Every February this Japanese Magnolia behind the library bursts into bloom. One day, there are just bare twigs and it seems the next time we look - it's a riot of pink.
One of the first flowers of Spring here on the Central Coast.
Here in New England, the hardy and gorgeous magnolia is one of the first to bloom, though those lovely waxy petals are a little sparser here, I am always overjoyed to see them about to bloom, and then blooming, and it definitely means spring! But for us it will be mid-to late April, if we don't have any blizzards!
OH! Nice magnolia close up! Watermarks for Ms. Erin, too?? Thank goodness we have lots of windows, huh?
