Journal Time

A few of the latest pages from my current
daily journal - Steampunk Postal Boys.

Have really been having fun combining
a themed journal with my daily jottings.

And since the theme loosely concerns post office and mail offerings,

.it's giving me a chance to use lots of vintage
 stamps and postage paraphernalia ...

... envelopes inside of envelopes and lots of chances
for faux addresses and postal markings.

Envelopes with maps, glassine  envelopes that
I've stamped on and filled with old photos and journal jottings.

Having a lot of fun with this one - can't you tell?

First Few Pix

f

The first few pix from the new journal pages.
Have several ideas for the cover, that I will
work on in the coming week or so.

Having fun adding ephemera, adding my daily thoughts,
and advancing the story of the Steampunk Postal Boys/

Had a good tme yesterday creating this bookmark for the journal,
using Tim Holtz Distress inks, stains, rub-ons and rubber stamps.

In with the New

The substrata for this journal is an old ledger
(an eBay find, several years ago).
I plan to go with a combination
theme of steampunk and vintage mail ephemera.

Busy gathering supplies, embellishments,
decorative paper and various bits and bobs
that will work with the theme.

I was thinking I might end up working in a smaller book this time
but as usual it's almost just as big, not as thick but  taller than the last one.

Can't wait to get started!!

Out with the Old...

I've been working in this journal since last August
and will finished it up in the next day or two.

Here are a few of my favourite spreads from it.

I had a lot of fun with this one - big enough to
do some large work which was different for me.

On Wednesday a preview of the
new journal as I prepare it for daily use.

More Pages

Some more pages from my current daily journal.

A scrap from a 1920 magazine and an exuberant skeleton
.

Labels, a vintage post card and
old watch key embellish this spread.

Journal Pages

Some pages from my latest art journal.

Love this technique of using the library pockets,
stamping on them and filling with little surprises.

This spread includes an old map,
small book cover and polymer clay leaf.
More pages on Wednesday!

More Journal Pages

Old invoice and more snaps.

I did this page while in the hospital for a few days -
as it says "Not the best week so far."

A swatch of painted leather and journaling on a
 piece of old manila envelope.

These two are "centering thoughts"
from a health meditation I do daily.

It actually was quite meditative using rubber
stamps to add them to my journal!

New Daily Journal

This is my latest daily journal. It's one I made using the
techniques from Mary Ann Moss's Full Tilt Boogie workshop.

Pen and watercolour wash of my favourite coffee shop.

Love using old snaps!

A collage for my last day of chemo at USC
(getting it locally in San Luis Obispo now).

Trying out new markers!

More Pages

I keep a shipping envelope of bits and pieces of paper,
ephemera and old photos in my bag to use when I journal.

I love to go to a favourite cafe, have a latte and a scone,

and lose myself for a hour or so, just playing with words and paper.

I've come across lots of these old snaps at Antique Faires

and I love the instant vintage look.  Not to mention how fun
it is to come up with a back story for the people in the photos.
