Suitcase Saturday

One of those fun Ross 3 in 1 stackable suitcases.

This was the largest of the three
and holds my art retreat trades.

Gathered over the last five years from

Art Fest, Art and Soul, Southwest Passage in Taos and others.

It seems we mixed media types can't get together
without making stuff to trade with each other.

It's fun to go through these and remember
the wonderful times and people from all the events.

I included several from my time at
Art and Soul, Portland to decorate this journal.

 using library pockets to hold

all the swaps, trades and goodies!

From the Bookshelf

This is a volume of fun, fantasy and wish fulfillment. Angela Cartwright and Sarah Fishburn invited 11 of their favourite artists to create their "dream" house using a 9 x 12" accordion-fold template. The results are beautiful, wild and utterly distinctive.

In 2007 at Art & Soul in Portland I took a class with Angela where we were given house-shaped chipboard books and got to create our own fantasy dwelling. I chose as my theme an atelier in the south of France (talk about dream house!) and here are a couple of spreads from my book.

It was great fun gathering the papers and ephemera to use for the project and even more fun "building" it during the class.

Cigar Box Wednesday

Slides and slide mounts. Empty and with slides in them. Lots of uses in altered art and journaling. See Lynne Perrella's Artists' Journals and Sketch Books featuring a myriad of slide mount art by Michelle Ward, Lisa Hoffman, Monica Riffe, and Sarah Fishburn.

Here are a couple of spreads from a slide mount book I did at Art and Soul, Portland in 2007. A wonderful class taught by Diane Downs, these were fun to do.
