5x5 Exhibit Opens

Art Heals Years of Pain 5x5" Erin Perry

The 5x5 exhibit opened last Friday in Putnam, Connecticut and is also open now on Seth Apter's blog at this link.  The link shows all the artwork, which was created by artists that contributed to Seth's first book The Pulse of Mixed Media.  So the pieces will be available not only at the gallery, but through the on-line link as well.  Take a look, some amazing and wonderful art in a small format.

When Seth Apter's first book came out, he invited all the contributors to make a 5x5" piece of artwork based on one of the questions we had answered in the interview section of the book. I made mine and sent it in.  Now many of those pieces will be in an exhibition at The Empty Spaces Project in Putnam Connecticut during the month of December. So I'll be in my first show on the east coast!

Creative Time Too

I used a variety of texture tools on these canvses -

 embossed wall paper, credit card edges, coffee cup sleeves,

 and plastic canvas rounds and squares.

 Had fun adding drips and splatters as well.

I'm pleased with the results and loved
getting back in the studio again!

Spent some wonderful time in the studio on Monday creating!

 Don't always the energy for doing art right now -
so this felt great.

All on 5x7" panels with gesso, fluid acrylics and glazing medium, using techniques I picked up in the workshop I took from Seth Apter last month.  More on Thursday.

Seth's "Trilogy"

I have admired Seth Apter's art for awhile now and when I saw this piece on his blog recently I just knew that when I got to the bottom of the post it would say "SOLD". But... it didn't! Never have you seen someone access ETSY so quickly. When I got to the screen where it tells you that you must complete transaction to complete sale, I was thinking "OH NO! What if someone else is like, one key stroke ahead of me? What if I lose it now? What if ..." (I've been told by those I love that I have waaay too much imagination.

But none of these things happened - and the piece is mine. It came in the mail a couple of days ago and I love it. The layering is amazing and the colours, especially the touches of blue, just delicious. Thank you Seth - your piece has found its way to a happy home.
