More shots from Destiny's trip to the
Bachelor's Grove cemetery in Illinois.
I'm always fascinated by the aged and weathered stone.
And I find the over-grown greenery and
sense of neglect very poignant.
Wouldn't a rubbing of this one make a
great background for a journal page?

So amazing! I love to see your cemetery postings. I agree with your comments and I see such symbolism of life. Beginnings and endings, and then nature tells us that we can remember the past but must keep growing to a new future. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAmanda - It's interesting, as kids, we all thought of cemeteries as kind of spooky and haunted. But now, I find such peace and almost a healing balm when I walk down the paths and rest under the huge old trees.

Oh, that second picture is amazing! I would just lie on the ground and study that thing for ages!
ReplyDeleteNow that I think about it, that might explain why they won't let me in the cemetery anymore.
Nah.
Chris - Don't worry - eventually they let everybody in!!
