From the Holiday Bookshelf

Today is my daughter Bronwyn's birthday and this was her favourite Christmas book growing up. It tells the story of Becky, a 10 year old girl growing up in the New England countryside in the early 20th century. All the lovely events that lead up to a wonderful holiday are chronicled and we share Becky's anticipation and joy. It's out of print, but you can still find it used on Amazon and your local library may have a well worn and well loved copy.

I love that, in the story, Becky weaves a rug for her parents' present on a big floor loom, and Bronwyn is a weaver herself. Happy Birthday darling girl!

  1. Happy Birthday to Bronwyn!

Have you ever considered altering this book to say Bronwyn's Christmas?

But then, you'd have to white out all the Beckys in the book and put in Bronwyn, so never mind.

  2. It's hard to beileve I've missed the Tallest Handmade Book In the World project and the Dia de Bloglandia project. And, by this time, about four shows of yours.

I'm spending the rest of the day pouting.

  3. Chris - Actually there may still be time for the tallest book project - I know she was delayed by some house projects, so if you're interested, e-mail and find out. I will pass your good wishes along to Bron.
