Playing with Pictures

Had some fun the other day playing with old photos.
Printed them out on glossy photo paper,

then used ink, markers and stamps to
give them a vintage-y feel.
This one is yours truly in 3rd grade.

These are a couple of suave sweater vest guys

who also now have the vintage look!

Pin Me!

 Pinterest Logo.svg

I've been wanting to Pinterest but when I found out that you had to have a facebook or twitter account to join in, I stalled.  I think I'm fairly techno for a 60+ but neither of those is something I want to get involved in.  Enter 20+ something friend Destiny who said "Oh, well just have you sign up for Twitter for about 2 minutes while you create a Pinterest account and then we can deactivate the Twitter account."  And it worked like a charm.

Now I have this wonderful on-line inspiration board where I can "pin" pictures of everything - art (mine and others), cool ideas for home decorating, places I've been (or would like to go to), books - the list is endless - and soon, so will be the pictures I've posted.  Just click on the Pinterest widget in the right hand sidebar and see what I've done so far.  It's such fun to have a place to collect all these great pictures and ideas that I come across on the web.

Suitcase Saturday

A decorative hatbox this time, found at Michael's, 30% off and a 20% off total purchase coupon to boot!  It holds my collection of vintage photos(ones that are not cabinet cards or cartes de visite).

I've found them at antique malls and faires,
flea markets, thrift stores and swap meets.

On our trip to England several years ago I scoured the street markets at Greenwich and Portobello Road, the boot sales, small antique shops and jumble sales.

There are snaps, formal studio shots, even a few tintypes!
I love to look at the long-ago faces and try to divine their secrets.

New Year, New Roads, New Possibilities

These are a couple of shots I took last month when we were up in Sebastopol, about 45 minutes north of San Francisco. It had rained the night before, the late fall colour was still beautiful. We had to pull over and get out the camera. These two views were directly across from each other on Gravenstein Hwy.

What with the holidays, it had been awhile since I'd downloaded pix, (which I finally did last weekend) and I just thought how perfect these two were, the pathways leading to a myriad of possibilities for the year ahead.

Zest for Life

These are a couple of photos that I love. The top one I found digging around in a box at one of the Antique Street Fairs that are held locally twice a year. These look like my kind of girls! Ready for any adventure on offer and not bound by convention.

This one could be the same three, all grown up, with a favourite niece. My friend Susan slipped it in my birthday card this year - as Michelle would say "She totally 'gets me'!" I keep both snaps on the shelf above my desk at the library. Can't go wrong with all that lively, lovely female energy and zest for life looking out at me.
