Baskets of Books
One of the things I love to do, especially when traveling, is to haunt old used bookstores and discover treasures like this.
I've done this in Venice, Paris, London and Edinburgh, among several other locations and I'm never disappointed.
There's always something wonderful to bring home. Now you know why I always take along an empty suitcase!

In my teen years working at the Huntington Library, they would occasionally have a cart of de-accessioned books from purchased or donated collections, parked by the employees' entrance. Your photos remind me of this...rare or at least old and wonderful...that musty smell of paper and binding. And how wise, an empty suitcase. A world-class treasure hunter. xo
ReplyDeleteThose are great parts, even!
ReplyDeleteMarylinn -Yes, that smell! Better than Chanel No.5 to those of us that love old books. I finally got smart about taking the empty bag after a couple of trips where I had to buy one there.

Chris - The parts are fun. The page blocks, the spines, the covers, the marbled endpapers - so much to work with in just one old volume.

A bounty of books. Looks like we both cannot get enough of them!
ReplyDeleteSeth - Books - my one weakness!
