Suitcase Saturday

I found this small vintage case at the local swap meet a few years ago. It's delightfully worn and faded.

I keep some family photos, letters and diaries from the
late 1800's and early 1900's in it.

Baby pictures of my maternal grandmother,
an autograph book, Victorian scrap pictures,
letters from the front during WWI.

I used copies of some of these for a journal spread
in a swap I was part of several years ago.

  1. Wonderful that you have all that memorabilia -- and beautiful vintage ephemera from your own family.

  2. Yes, it's very special. 2 of my mother's sisters were very "saving" types and most of this has come down to me through them.

  3. I always want to adopt peoples precious letters at antique stores. I can almost hear their sighs of relief when they know that someone cares. I'd be a VERY happy angel if you picked up MY things....and you put them to such wonderful use!

  4. Lisa - I know what you mean. It's always very poignant to come across boxes of letters and photos at a flea market or antique shop. I like to make up history for them by following the clues they present.
