Missouri Travel Journal

 So here's the finished journal.

As the journey went on I added bits and bobs of ephemera,

and wrote of the daily happenings.

The Tim Holtz paper and stickers were the perfect backgrounds

for the vintage-y feel I wanted to create.

Every morning on my walk I found detritus to add to the pages.

And some postcards and other souvenirs

were the perfect touch for added memories.

The size of the book was perfect for slipping in my bag,

and the number of pages worked out just right.

Anytime I want to relive this wonderful trip,
all I need to do is leaf through this journal!

  1. The sepia tones and vintage images make it feel like a Missouri visit in another era. That "time" thing when we get to be here and also there. Wonderful preservation of memories. xo

  2. You really have a definable "style". This to me is the mark of an artist. Each piece is absolutely unique, but there is a voice. Very wonderful book. clapping.......

  3. Using the flash gave it a bit more sepia too. I do love that "other era" feeling in most of my books, journals and collages. And so much of what we saw there was from long ago.

  5. OMG!! This is a perfect finish to your visit! Looks like MO was so happy you were visiting that it made sure you found plenty of stuffs to pick up to create this beautiful journal! I am so glad you enjoyed yourself and I will be looking for that Flea Market next summer on my visit back there! Springfield is only 75 miles from my son's house. YAY!!

  6. Sharon - And the weather was perfect! Never got hotter than the low 80's and the humidity wasn't bad at all. Two days after I got home they were in the 100's, so I really lucked out.

  8. bobbie - already back. Flights went well, suitcase ended up in Oakland instead of San Jose, but they sent it down to Morro Bay a couple of days later.
