The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie follows 11 year old Flavia de Luce, a chemistry enthusiast with a passion for poison, as she outwits her sadistic older sisters, gets her father out of jail and solves a murder. Set in 1950 England, the characters and setting are written with a sure and unerring hand. This is the first in a series, according to author Alan Bradley.
