Multnomah Falls

Portland was so fun, we almost didn't leave the city to drive out to Multnomah Falls, but we're very glad we did. We took scenic Hwy 30 which winds through lush green forests and beside rushing rivers.

At 630 feet, it's the second highest fall in the nation (only Yosemite Falls is higher.) The concrete bridge replaced the original log structure.

It was raining, and we decided not to take
the climb up to the bridge.

Margot got this shot of me contemplating - interestingly enough, the only time during our Portland visit that I had to don my raincoat!

The falls have been a tourist spot since the turn of the last century, during the '30's a special train brought visitors out from the city. The famous bridge is a very popular spot for weddings.

  1. The bridge may be a bit too awesome for me...standing in front of and over the tumbling water but what a rush it must be. Glad you didn't miss it.
